Report on National Conference 2020 on “Emerging Trends in Management Education.”

The National Conference on “Emerging Trends in Management Education” was organized on 5th and 6th March 2020 at HNIMR. It was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Deepak Shikharpur and Director Incharge Dr. Mihika Kulkarni.

Dr. Mihika Kulkarni in her welcome address explained the importance of Desiign thinking, Business Analytics and Artificial intelligence. Dr. Deepak Shikharpur said that all transactions in future will done through IT. The purpose of this conference was to provide a platform for exchange of ideas among corporates, academicians, participants and students. The two days conference had various sessions.

On first day, Dr. Balaramadurai shared his views on Design Thinking. He explained the relevance beween thought of Gautam Buddha and design thinking. After that Mr. Ketan Gandhi briefed case study method and its importance in management education. In the post lunch session, Swami Bodhmayanand shared inspiring stories of Swami Vivekanand. He guided students on how maintain spirituality and culture. He also discussed role of Spirituality in Education. Mr. Shailendra Goswami briefed about entrepreneurship concept and shared successful stories of entrepreneurs. He also discussed future challenges for an entrepreneur.

On day two, Mr. Anand Kolharkar explained significance of Business Analytics and its practices in the industry. Mr. Rajeev Bhardwaj highlighted the impact of AI on Teaching Learning Process for management education. Prof. Bharat Damani stressed on how technology based educational Aids make students industry ready and employable. During last session, research scholars presented their papers on topics relevant to theme of National Conference.

This session was followed by valedictory session. For this session Dr. Parag Kalkar,Dean –Faculty of Commerce and Management and Hon. Prof. N. D. Patil MKSSS – Vice President, Chairman CDC- HNIMR were present as guest. The entire event was coordinated by Dr. Kamlakar Munde, Dr. Ashok Pawar, Dr. Prashant Mamarde and Mr. Ganesh Lotke under the guidance of Dr. Mihika Kulkarni.

“The Corporate Grooming Programme”

Grooming plays a very crucial role in today’s corporate world and it is very imperative to recognize the importance of the first impression and how visual appearance and etiquette impacts the professional effectiveness at workplace. For students to stand out as promising assets to multinational organizations, they need to invest in the sharpening of what are labeled as soft skills. These abilities which are linked to personality traits are a host of interpersonal capabilities that will help the present day students to transform into outstanding corporate resources.

Considering the importance of Corporate Grooming, MKSSS’s HNIMR had organized a week long programme title “The Corporate Grooming Programme” for MBA Jr. students from 27th February to 3rd March, 2020.

Dr. Mihika Kulkarni, Director I/c- HNIMR, Mr. Vijay Jagtap, Founder Cludobits, Mr. Soham Dadarkar, Soft Skill Trainer and Ms. Dolly Pandey, TPO- HNIMR had inaugurated the function. Dr. Mihika Kulkarni Director I/c, HNIMR  stressed the importance of such training programs and also assured that many more quality programs will be introduced in the days to come for preparing students to face the corporate world.

Various sessions like The Interview Preparation Workshop, Introduction to Fundamental of SIP, Comprehending Projects, JDs and Work Profile, Resume Building, Workplace ethics -do’s & don’ts, Leadership in Pressure Cooker Situation, Strategy in Today’s Era and Manifesting Happiness were arranged during the Programme.

Trainers who have vast experience of corporate environment imparted the training to the students. The trainers were  Mr. Soham Dadarkar, Ms. Saudamini Bhavsar, Ms. Swati Atkari, Mr. Kush Agarwal, Mr. Bharat Oswal and Ms. Radha Singh.

During the programme an improvement in the overall personality of the students can be observed. By the end of the program, most of the students presented themselves more confidently and were able to express/ share their views openly.

The entire programme was organized and coordinated under the guidance of Director I/C Dr. Mihika Kulkani by Ms. Dolly Pandey, Dr. Arpita Singh & Dr. Pranita Sonar with the help of MBA Jr. & Sr. Student volunteers.

“The Finishing School Programme”

A finishing school is the final refinement to student education to make them an all-rounder with good personality, grooming, excellent personal etiquette and dress sense. A well-groomed person with a pleasant personality stands out in a crowd and has a higher chance of ready acceptance in any setting – be it the job market, family environment or peer group.

MKSSS’s HNIMR had organized “The Finishing School Programme” for MBA Sr Students from 27th February to 3rd March, 2020. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Mihika Kulkarni, Director I/c- HNIMR, Mr. Vijay Jagtap, Founder Cludobits, Ms. Pallavi Kaushik, Soft Skill Trainer and Ms. Dolly Pandey, TPO- HNIMR. While addressing the students Dr. Mihika Kulkarni stressed the importance of such training programs for preparing students to face the corporate world.

The programme consist of the sessions like Corporate Styling, Power of Branding, Geopolitics in Today’s era w.r.t. Employment opportunities, Voice and Accent Neutralization Training, Situation Analysis, Team Building, Interpersonal Skills and Group Discussion.

Renowned Soft skill and corporate trainers like Ms. Pallavi Kaushik, Ms. Punam Relwani, Mr. Anit Dutta, Mr. Uday Deshpande, Mr. Rohit Ghosh, Ms. Ketaki Mistri and Mr. Gaurav Ambedkar were invited to conduct the sessions. Mock Interviews were conducted by the corporates like Mr. Shailendra Marathe, Mr. Rohit Ghosh, Ms. Rajashri Gole, Mr. Patwardhan, Mr. Jeetendra Nene and Mr. Vijay Jagtap. All these eminent speakers gave thorough insights in to grooming the overall personality which is a critical aspect in making students ready for the professional world. These impactful sessions were very well received by students.

IIM B- Plan Competition

We were glad to be a part of International B- Plan Championship scheduled on 31st Jan 2020 in IIM Bangalore Campus. With the guidance of Dr. Mihika Kulkarni- Director Incharge and Dr. Sonali Parchure along with Dr. Jyoti Gaikwad and Mrs. Ranjana Gogate ,who accompanied us in the whole process and our team, Ms. Diksha Menghani, Ms. Mahima Gupta, Ms. Nikita Kuray, Ms. Ria Wagh, Ms. Aishwarya More were fortunate to present our Business Plan- VIATULet Someone walk in your shoes!!! VIATU meaning footwear in Swahili language was aimed on business idea which suggests that instead of discarding old footwear in landfill and imparting landfill issues; such old footwear can be refurbished and provided to the needy people. Based on our thought of creating a social enterprise thus generating awareness among people and employment for cobbler community through our idea, we were acknowledged and appreciated for our efforts through participation certificates and trophy.

A Certificate Course on ‘Payroll Management and Legal Compliance’

On 24th and 25th Feb. 2020, HNIMR organised a 2 days certificate course on ‘Payroll Management and Legal Compliance’. 28 students of HR specialisation attended this course.

During this course the trainer, Mr.Sachin from PreHR taught the students CTC designing, preparation of salary break-up, monthly pay slip, calculation of net and gross salary, deductions PF, ESI, PT, TDS etc, contributions PF,ESI etc, leave management, bonus, gratuity, LWF, Tax Calculation-TDS, flow chart of Payroll Software etc. Whereas Mr. Panduranga More covered compliance part – returns under various acts i.e. The Factories Act, Payment of Wages Act, Bonus Act, Gratuity Act, MPCB etc.

This was indeed an informative session. Through such sessions HNIMR tries to make the students ‘industry ready’.

Report On ”Panache’ ‘The cultural Programme’

Dates: 10,11, 12Feb 2020

Venue: Campus of HNIMR

HNIMR  has organized intercollegiate cultural programme ”Panache” in the HNIMR Campus on 10, 11 and 12. February 2020.Theme of Panache was ‘’Rainbow’’ which was clearly seen through the decoration of stage and campus. This event is organized by the institute which  invited  students from all other esteemed institutes/colleges from city to participate into it. The object behind organizing such type of activity is to promote the traditional Indian cultural in current generation as well as they can understand the planning, organizing team performance and the cooperation among each other. It is a mega event which is guzzled with numerous other sub-events (competition),like   Fashion show, group dance, solo song, solo dance, Street play, Mehandi, chess, face painting, T shirt painting, long jump, table tennis and so many. Battle of Bands event was a new feather in our list of events. In this program more than 1000 students from all over Pune and some international students have participated in different 21 activities.

The first day Inauguration of Panache programme was honored by Director In charge of HNIMR Dr. Mihika Kulkarni and well-known actor and dancer Miss Priyanka Bhide.

The last day of Panache Prize distribution ceremony was graced by presence of Cinestar Mr. Sourabh Gokhale and, famous TV actress Mrs. Radhika Deshpande. Samstha’s Vice president Prof. N. D. Patil and CDC member of HNIMR Mr. Pramod Deshmukh sir with Director in charge Dr. Mihika Kulkarni was present for the same.  Final Overall Trophy was bagged by IMED Law college And in fashion show BNCA was the winner.

All students of HNIMR with faculty members and  non-teaching staff enjoyed this three colorful days of Rainbow theme, with variety of programs and snacks of stalls  with different  objects. Vote of thanks was given by Vice President Pratiksha Jawale.

Kushagra 2020

Every year MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women hosts an inter-collegiate management fest – ‘Kushagra’. During Kushagra students from different colleges participate in the 5 sub events such as         FIN-FIESTA, EL-FEIRANTE, BIG-WIG, B-QUIZ and HORIZON.

This year the event was held on the 4th of February, 2020. Like every year this year too the institute got an overwhelming response from the participants of other undergraduate and postgraduate colleges. One more sub event was introduced this year – Logistical Express, so in total there were 6 sub events in ‘Kushagra 2020’

FIN-FIESTA a competition where participants were evaluated on the grounds of finance related topics such as share market, stocks, and economics was one of the vibrant events. The participants enjoyed all the rounds thoroughly. On the other hand EL-FEIRANTE – a marketing competition wherein participants (team of 3-5) were given a product in a declining stage and were asked to innovate a market re-entry strategy for the same through designing a poster. For the final round participants were given a social issue on which they were expected to prepare a skit of 8 minutes marketing a product in the same. Students were judged on the basis of their creativity, innovation, participation, presentation and communication skills. It was indeed a learning experience for participants as well as the audience.

BIG-WIG is an event for HR specialization students. The participants were given various case studies for which they have to give appropriate solutions. A challenging competition wherein participants managerial qualities and skills got tested.

B-QUIZ is a competition where students participate in teams. During this competition students business knowledge was tested in various rounds. ‘Kaun Banega Business Guru’ was the USP of this competition.

During HORIZON the participants presented their internship project and were judged by the industry experts.

This year a new competition was launched for checking the operations and supply chain knowledge of the participants – Logistical Express. The participants really enjoyed this competition.

This event was sponsored by Lijjat Papad, Janata Sahakari Bank, Jagadamb Biryani and Sakshi Dangat.

For the prize distribution ceremony the chief guest was Dr. Parag Kalkar – Dean Faculty of Commerce and Management in Savitribai Phule Pune University, guest of honour were Mr. Anand Kolharkar – Founder of Opine group and Mr. Pradeep Phadke – Senior Management Consultant. The institutes constant support Dr. P. V. Shastry – Secretary of MKSSS and              Dr. Mihika Kulkarni, director in-charge of HNIMR, were also present to appreciate the victory of the participants.

The guests also acknowledged the efforts of student volunteers from HNIMR and felicitated them.

The overall trophy was bagged by the students of ‘Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development’ (IMED).

The whole event was organized and managed by the seniors and juniors of HNIMR with the guidance and support of the faculty members.

A team of first year MBA students of MKSSS’s Smt. Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women (HNIMR), Pune has been awarded Second prize in Apna Sapna Money Money competition and third prize in Apna Ad Ayega competition. This intercollegiate event MAVEN-2020 was conducted by SPM’s Sir Parshuram College, Pune on 16th, 17th and 18th January 2020. Students were awarded with Certificate of Merit and Trophy by the organizing institute. Success of competition winners were appreciated by Director in Charge the institute Dr. Mihika Kulkarni and all staff members of the institute. They were encouraged to participate in future intercollegiate events.
