Introduction

Participation in sports is useful to everybody to improve physical and mental fitness. Sports play a great role in everyone’s busy life especially for students. Being involved in the sports activities help us in getting protected with numerous diseases. It makes us more disciplined, patient, punctual, and courteous in life. It teaches us to go ahead in life by removing all the weaknesses. It makes us bold and gives the feeling of happiness by reducing the occurrence of anxiety and angry. It makes us physically fit and mentally comfort using which we can easily deal with all the problems. Both Sports and Studies are very important aspects of our life and should be balanced to gain maximum output.

The Sports Cell is established with the objectives to inspire students for physical and mental exercises for their fitness, enhancing the sportsman ship attitude and learning of management principles viz. leadership, team work, problem solving etc. through participation in sports.

Objective of Sports Cell

  • To help students to improve their physical fitness and mental strength.
  • To develop the sportsman spirit to become good human being.
  • To give students practical exposure to application of managerial skills such as leadership, planning, coordinating, control, direction, motivation etc.

Yoga, Meditation Sessions

The trained trainers of centralized facilities or from Patanjali conduct such sessions. Institute is in the process of establishing a dedicated cell for personality development through spiritual practices. The Certificate course entitled “Corporate Holistic Personality” of 30 hours was conducted in association with Six Sigma Advance Controls Inc. USA. The course was aimed for subconscious mind development of Students with holistic approach.

Seminar Hall of area 112.42 Sq. Mtr. is made available for such activities.

During the Academic Year 2013-14:

A) Students’ Participation in events and winners:
Our students participated in the various sports tournaments organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University and MKSSS’s Damini, PUMBA and ISBM. They participated in the various games enthusiastically viz. Cross Country, Badminton, Kho-kho, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Carrom, PPT, Chess, Cricket, Running, Shot-put, and Discuss Throw. The total number of participation entries is 116. Following are the major achievements:

  1. Aarti Naik won the Gold Medal in MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.
  2. Ujjawala Matale won the ‘All-rounder’ trophy in MKSSS’s DAMINI 2014 competition.
  3. Nikita Joshi won the Gold Medal in PUMBA’s DHRUV – Table Tennis competition.

B) Events Organized:

  1. MKSSS’s “Damini”: MKSSS’s Damini sports competition was organized on 16th, 17th, from 22nd to 24th January 2014 for the under graduate and post graduate students studying in the colleges/institutes run and managed by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS) all over Maharashtra. Mr. Prashant N. Mamarde, In-charge – Sports Committee, HNIMR had taken the active participation in managing this event. HNIMR students also participated enthusiastically in this competition.
  2. “Ground Zero” intercollegiate sports competition: Intercollegiate sports competition “Ground Zero” was organized for undergraduate and postgraduate girls and boys students on 27th and 28th February, 2014. Total 165 number of participation entries were registered in six games viz. Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Chess and Carrom.
During the Academic Year 2014-15:

A) Students’ Participation in events and winners:
Our students participated in the various sports tournaments organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University and MKSSS’s Damini. They participated in the various games enthusiastically viz. Cross Country, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Carrom, PPT, Chess, Cricket, Slow Cycling, Running and Javelin Throw. The total number of participation entries is 103. Following are the major achievement:
Aarti Naik won the Gold Medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.

B) Events Organized:

  1. MKSSS’s “Damini”: MKSSS’s Damini sports competition was organized on 9th, 10th, from 27th to 29th January 2015 for the under graduate and post graduate students studying in the colleges/institutes run and managed by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS) all over Maharashtra. Mr. Prashant N. Mamarde, Incharge – Sports Committee, HNIMR had taken the active participation in managing this event. HNIMR students also participated enthusiastically in this competition.
  2. “Panache” intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition: Intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition “Panache” was organized for undergraduate and postgraduate girls and boys students from 24th to 26th February, 2015. Students participated in six games viz. Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Chess and Carrom.
During the Academic Year 2015-16:

A) Students’ Participation in events and winners:
Our students participated in the various sports tournaments organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University, MKSSS’s Damini and HNIMR’s Panache. They participated in the various games enthusiastically viz. cross country, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, carrom, PPT, chess, slow cycling, fencing, pistol shooting and running. The total number of participation entries is 63. Following are the major achievements:

  1. Renuka Vyavahare won the Bronze medal in intercollegiate Fencing competition organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University, qualified and participated in the Zonal level competition.
  2. Ayodhya Sase won the Silver medal in the Zonal Pistol Shooting competition organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University, qualified and participated in the National level competition.
  3. Ayodhya Sase won the Gold medal in the Open State Pistol Shooting competition (team event) organized by SDRA.
  4. Deepika Ghosh won the Silver medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.
  5. Shweta Doye won the Bronze medal in the the HNIMR’s PANACHE – Chess competition.

B) Events Organized:

  1. MKSSS’s “Damini”: MKSSS’s Damini sports competition was organized on 7th, 8th, from 28th to 30th January 2016 for the under graduate and post graduate students studying in the colleges/institutes run and managed by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS) all over Maharashtra. Mr. Prashant N. Mamarde, Incharge – Sports Committee, HNIMR had taken the active participation in managing this event. HNIMR students also participated enthusiastically in this competition.
  2. “Panache” intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition: Intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition “Panache” was organized for undergraduate and postgraduate girls and boys students from 20th to 22nd January, 2016. Students participated in six games viz. Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Chess and Carrom, Long Jump and 100 metre running.
During the Academic Year 2016-17:

A) Students’ Participation in events and winners:
Our students participated in the various sports tournaments organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University, MKSSS’s Damini and HNIMR’s Panache. They participated in the various games enthusiastically viz. badminton, basketball, volleyball, suryanamaskar, yogasana, carrom, PPT, chess, slow cycling, pistol shooting, long jump, tug of war, cricket and running. The total number of participation entries is 96. Following are the major achievements:

  1. Deepika Ghosh won the Silver medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – Slow Cycling competition.
  2. Aishwarya Darnay won the Silver medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.
  3. Aishwarya Ashtekar won the Bronze medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.
  4. Vishakha Rathi won the Silver medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – Chess competition (Individual event).
  5. Vishakha Rathi, Shweta Doye, Manasi Kothekar and Sukanya Hadap won the Silver medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – Chess competition (Team event).
  6. Vishakha Rathi won the Gold medal in the HNIMR’s Panache – Chess competition (Individual event).
  7. Shweta Doye won the Silver medal in the HNIMR’s Panache – Long jump competition.

B) Events Organized:

  1. MKSSS’s “Damini”: MKSSS’s Damini sports competition was organized on from 9th to 13th January 2017 for the under graduate and post graduate students studying in the colleges/institutes run and managed by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS) all over Maharashtra. Mr. Prashant N. Mamarde, Incharge – Sports Committee, HNIMR had taken the active participation in managing this event. HNIMR students also participated enthusiastically in this competition.
  2. “Panache” intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition: Intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition “Panache” was organized for undergraduate and postgraduate girls and boys students from 18th to 20th January, 2017. Total 148 number of participation entries were registered in six games viz. Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Chess, Carrom, Long Jump and 100 meter running.
During the Academic Year 2017-18:

A) Students’ Participation in events and winners:
Our students participated in the various sports tournaments organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University, MKSSS’s Damini, ISBM and Enduro. They participated in the various games enthusiastically viz. badminton, volleyball, suryanamaskar, yogasana, carrom, PPT, chess, slow cycling, long jump, shot put, Javelin throw, endure, tug of war, cricket and running. The total number of participation entries is 82. Following are the major achievements:

  1. Aishwarya Ashtekar won the Gold medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.
  2. Prajana Shetty won the Silver medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – PPT competition.
  3. Volleyball team won the Bronze medal in the MKSSS’s DAMINI – Volleyball competition.
  4. Diksha Balkawade got the medal for completing the Enduro (70 km cycling) competition.

B) Events Organized:

  1. MKSSS’s “Damini”: MKSSS’s Damini sports competition was organized on from 9th to 13th January 2018 for the under graduate and post graduate students studying in the colleges/institutes run and managed by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS) all over Maharashtra. Mr. Prashant N. Mamarde, In-charge – Sports Committee, HNIMR had taken the active participation in managing this event. HNIMR students also participated enthusiastically in this competition.
  2. “Panache” intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition: Intercollegiate cultural cum sports competition “Panache” was organized for undergraduate and postgraduate girls and boys students from 23rd to 25th January, 2018. Total 142 number of participation entries were registered in six games viz. Table Tennis, Suryanamaskar, Chess, Carrom, Long Jump and 100 metre running.

Current Developments (2018-19)

  1. Our esteemed student Rutuja Bhosale (world ranking 375) is representing India in Lawn Tennis. She represented India in Asian Games 2018 held in Indonesia in women’s doubles matches. Rutuja also played tournaments held in Australia, Mumbai, Pune, Solapur.
  2. Rutuja Bhosale has won the Women’s Doubles Lawn Tennis ITF tournament played in September 2018 in Darwin, Australia.
  3. Rutuja Bhosale has won the Runner-up prizes in Womens’s Singles and doubles Lawn Tennis ITF tournament played in October 2018 in Brisbane, Australia.
  4. Rutuja Bhosale entered the semifinal round of women’s ITF Lawn Tennis tournament played in December 2018 in Solapur.
  5. Our students also participated in intercollegiate sports competition organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University. They played road race cycling, chess, badminton and volleyball matches.
  6. Diksha Balkawade secured 3rd rank in road race cycling competition of Savitribail Phule Pune University and qualified and participated in Zonal Level competition.
  7. Srushti Kokate secured 5th rank in road race cycling competition of Savitribail Phule Pune University and qualified for Zonal Level competition.

Achievements: Students are showing the keen interest in sports activities. There is overwhelming response of students’ participation in various sports tournaments. Institute is also organizing inter-institute sports competition which is a part of annual cultural cum sports event “PANACHE”.

They are able to improve the physical fitness, mental strength, getting a platform to learn management lessons and developing the sportsman spirit.

Management Lessons through Sports: Apart from winning the medal in different games at various levels, students are learning managerial skills such as leadership, coordinating, communication, time management etc.
